Kirk Leavell
Wild Basin Fitness is Kirk's dream come true. He has had a love of sports and competition all of his life and grew-up participating in every athletic event he could manage. Kirk succeeded in five different sports in high school and went on to play baseball and win a national championship in track and field at the collegiate level. He majored in Kinesiology at Blinn College and Sam Houston State University and feels the combination of an education and a lifetime of personal experience has allowed him to reach a professional level of understanding of how exercise and healthy eating can positively affect the body. Kirk's dream of owning his own fitness facility has come true because his clients have had such remarkable success in obtaining their goals under his direction.
Colin Kaslow
Colin Kaslow has been a personal trainer here at Wild Basin Fitness since graduating from The University of Texas in 1999.Colin is a well established trainer working with both men and women of all ages and fitness levels ranging from professional athletes to post surgical patients.Creating workout programs specifically designed to meet your individual goals, Colin teaches proper exercise technique along with an emphasis on proper nutrition as a foundation of wellness and health that will help you attain a healthier and stronger body.Colin combines cardiovascular and strength training, core stability, nutrition, nutritional timing (when you should eat certain kinds of food), flexibility, hydration, and balance drills as his methods to help his clients attain better health.A love and passion for helping others is the inspiration and reward for Colin as a trainer.He has experience working with many types of injuries, pregnant women (both post and during) , pro athletes (volleyball, baseball, golf, and cycling), young athletes, couch potatoes, and elderly clients.So do you want to live a healthier life, do you want to lose weight or inches, improve your athletic performance or prevent injury, rehabilitate from an injury, or improve your strength or muscle size?If the answer is yes to any of these questions. Colin is the right trainer for you. Colin has enjoyed a carrer competing in professional beach volleyball tournaments when not at work, as well as playing with his dog,watching live music, and cooking. Colin has B.S. in Kinesiology from The University of Texas.He is a certified corrective exercise and active isolated stretching (AIS) therapist.For the last four years he has also worked for Spinal Wellness and Rehab Clinic in both those fields while also personal training here at Wild Basin Fitness.
Sean Scott
Sean Scott has worked in the fitness profession for over 15 years. He focuses on a philosophy of overall wellness that encompasses both physical and mental health. Sean wants his clients to feel good about themselves from the inside out and is committed to helping them reach their personal fitness goals, as well as find balance within their lifestyle. This includes educating them about healthy lifestyle choices in their diet, water intake, sleep patterns, physical activity, and meditation. In the gym, his workouts are dynamic in that he consistently challenges his clients while meeting their individual needs.Sean believes fitness is an ever-changing industry which demands up-to-date knowledge. He is passionate about continuing his own education to better serve his clients through professional seminars and conferences. Along with a Master’s Degree in Exercise Physiology, he is a licensed massage therapist and a C.H.E.K certified Lifestyle and Nutrition Coach. Sean loves interacting with people through his work at Wild Basin. He considers himself very lucky to help people better their lives everyday.
Jen Wencel
Jen believes that fitness is a lifestyle everyone can adopt. This philosophy is seen in her fun and alternative approach to working with clients. Born and rasied in Austin, Jen has been immersed in the world of fitness her whole life. Competing in a wide range of sports, she has achieved a level of athletic success parallel to her passion for fitness and training. As a Division 1 college athlete at Boise State University, Jen graduated with a degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Sports Science Fitness Evaluation and Programing. Qualifying for the 70.3 Ironman World Championships, Jen enjoys the challenge of training as a high level triathlete. Jen's experience as an athlete allows her to better train and guide her clients to their specific goals.
Allison Shook
Allison brings a holistic approach to health & fitness. Starting her career in the computer consulting business, she soon realized that the office was not the place for her. After 6 months of soul searching, she discovered that her true passion lie in fitness and the deep desire for others to reap the benefits for a healthy lifestyle like she had. The once gangly teen swimmer ballooned into an unhealthy college student, gaining 40 lbs in her freshman year, but with the loving guidance of her mother and a lot of hard work she slowly transformed herself into a balanced, healthy, active adult. She believes with a positive attitude, functional training and a balanced healthful diet that everyone can live to the best for their bodies abilities. Her training philosophy is to safely push people to their limits to achieve their goals as efficiently & effectively as possible. Allison has been practicing yoga for over 10 years along with teaching it to a wide range of students, including the University of Texas Men's Basketball team, and believe that the eastern beliefs of balance, alignment and mobility are keys to healthy longevity. Food and cooking also play a large role in her life with a budding side career as a healthy personal chef for her clients. Food is fuel and without the right fuel in the tank your will never see the results you desire. Allison says "Give me an hour, you might not love me at the time but you'll love me & you in the end." Allison's hobbies include: cooking, swimming, running (including 2 marathon and soon to come Boston '10), live music, dancing & drinking margaritas.
Kelly Faldyn
A local Austin native and graduate from Texas State University, Kelly holds a Masters degree in Sports Management, in addition to her B.S. in Exercise and Sports Science. Kelly is a certified personal trainer experienced with weights, cardiovascular, core/stability, active isolated stretching, and is always looking to extend her knowledge and learn new techniques to keep things interesting and fun for her clients. Kelly’s current lifestyle involves weight-training, spinning, running, pilates, and yoga. She feels that the key to a fit and active lifestyle is a combination of nutrition, flexibility, aerobic and strength training.
Dianne Ferguson
Dianne has been in the fitness industry for over 20 years starting out as a group fitness instructor in Napa California. She grew up in an athletic family and started dancing and playing sports at a very young age. Dianne was a multi-sport athlete and star sprinter in high school, then went on to study business at Idaho State University where she met her future husband Marc. Dianne and her family love to stay active by participating in many sporting activities, traveling, and going to many sporting events here in Austin. (GO HORNS!) Dianne now specializes in small group women training sessions incorporating cardiovascular conditioning, strength training and nutrition advice specific for women. Her philosophy on training groups is to eliminate the intimidation that is common for most women in a health club environment by creating a fun, informative and supportive training program. She uses a variety of exercise techniques to keep it fun and challenging for all levels of fitness. Dianne hopes that she can influence and motivate those she trains to make physical fitness and healthy eating habits an everyday lifestyle choice so they can live a healthier and happier life.
Scott Woolwine
As a former high school and college athlete, Scott has trained under Kirk Leavell and been a member at Wild Basin Fitness since he was 13 years old. He has a degree in Kinesiology and is working towards a minor in anatomy and exercise physiology. Scott is currently the strength and conditioning coach at St. Stephens and has coached football as well. He has led numerous exercise and conditioning camps for all different sports. Scott not only focuses on multi-functionial and injury prevention exercises, but believes building mental strength is very important to the training process. Scott is living his dream and loves helping each client on their indiviudal goals.
